Winter Bicycles- another Serotta spruce up

This time a cx rig. The rear hanger had been reworked a number of times, and the owner wanted to go for a replaceable hanger so I replaced the dropouts.

While I had it in I removed all of the fender and rack attachments, took off the canti provisions, swapped in disc stuff and built a new Max-type fork. The bike was resprayed in my Tool Series "Burner" colors.

Nice job. I always enjoy reading about repair and repaint work.

Was it difficult to remove and replace the dropouts? To me, the style dropout used doesn't match the aesthetic quality of the frame but I'm assuming they were necessary for ease of the conversion, which I could totally understand.

Thanks for sharing your work.

Hi Peter- Yes, the Serotta drop outs have a pretty unique set up, both in axle offset from the center line and the lengths f the CS and SS "arms". Trying to find an appropriate drop out that also gave us a replaceable hanger AND allowed for the same CS length, tire clearance and drop out spacing wasn't happening. These are some very nice Paragon units that have been modified and grafter in.
