Serotta HSG IT

Picked up an older HSG IT (54CM) earlier in the summer, a bit of an odd one that had 3K carbon instead of the spec'd 12k carbon. Size and Price were just what I was looking for. I also lucked up and was able to get a NOS 10.5 Serotta F3 Fork from Mike Lopez when he found some stock sitting on the shelf.

Sent it off to the crew at Hot Tubes in Shirley, MA for some color on the tubing, and some etched logos. Super happy with how it turned out, will get it built up in the next week or so.

Frame: Serotta HSG IT 54CM stock geo
Fork: Serotta F3 10.5
Headset: Chris King
Stem: 110mm Syntace F109
Seatpost: Titanium setback post (may swap for a Syntace Hiflex Carbon)
Saddle: Specialized S Works Romin, 155mm, Paris Roubaix Team Edition
Bottle Cages: King Ti Cages
Handlebar: Deda Zero100 RHM 42CM
Shifters: Campagnolo Super Record
Brakes: Campagnolo Record
Crank: Power2Max Type S Campagnolo 52/36
Pedals: Time Xpresso 10
Cassette: Chorus 11-29
Front Derailleur: Campagnolo Super Record
Rear Derailleur: Campagnolo Super Record
Wheels: Fulcrum Racing Zero
Tires: Vittoria Corsas

That is just gorgeous. What's the difference in the 3k weave compared to 12? Can't wait to see this built up.

From the outside, it’s purely cosmetic, but as it’s a late HSG IT, not sure why it was built with the 3K tubes. Bonus is there wasn’t evidence of any clear coat issues when I bought it, And the 3K matches the new fork.

Wow, that color job is really nice. Looks great with the bare ti. What did you do with the fork - same color blue?

You're giving me ideas for my own Fierte IT. Would you mind giving a ballpark cost for your paint work? Hot Tubes is fairly local to me. How might Hot Tubes have referenced your paint job, in case I want to refer to it?

Thanks very much. Will be interested to see how this looks built up, and what you think of the ride.

I thought that the HSGs always had 3k weave on the carbon tubes, and that it was the Fiertes that had 12k weave on the seatstays. Looks great! I had a frame painted by Hot Tubes (neon fade) and they did a fantastic job.

Neat. I have an HSG it. I've got lots of other bikes, but every time I circle back to the HSG, I'm reminded just how spectacular these bikes are. Mine's got the Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork -- wish it had a little more tire clearance. You'll love yours.

Rough picture of the complete build. Still need to fine tune the fit and adjust a few things, but it's coming together nicely.

I have the same bike but in black with red decals. Love the ride, but I'm not a red guy. I also love the etched seat tube logo, I'd love to have them do that to my head tube, since someone removed the original badge.

I'd buy yours in a second if it were a 48cm. Looks gorgeous, GLWS.
