I freaking love covered bridges.
Hit a bunch in 2020, but will try and see even more in '21. please place your covered bridges photos here. it took some hike-a-bike with the road bike to capture this closed one yesterday, but it was a beautiful day out.

Also, I'd like to target another Lancaster area covered bridges ride in the near term. Anyone interested in a Sunday go of it?

The NYCC has a six covered bridges ride in Central NJ. It's a pretty good route.

If you like covered bridges, you want to make a road trip to Parke county, Indiana. It has 31 and has labeled itself the covered bridge capital of the world. Parke county is straight west of Indianapolis close to the Illinois border. They have a covered bridge festival in the fall when the leaves are changing color. That might be a time to avoid going because of increased car traffic.
My sister-on-law gave me a book on where all the covered bridges are in the US and I was surprised how many there were near Dayton, Ohio where I was teaching high school before I went into building and painting frames. |

Plenty here in Bucks Co, closer than Lancaster, but I think you've already done these routes. There's a 5 bridge metric century that's nice, I'll try and find it..

These are the ones I have ridden across near places that I live or have lived. Some of the pics are not mine.
This is the worlds longest covered bridge (New Brunswick) Wakfield Quebec (Near Ottawa) These are near where I live now and ride them regularly:

There are a bunch out in southwestern Pennsylvania in Bedford county in the vicinity of Osterburg. I used to have a girlfriend who had family in Altoona and would often get dropped off in Bedford and finish the trip on bike. The covered bridges are all in the valley, but then I would usually climb over Blue Knob in the process. That climb is as nasty and long as I am aware of in the Keystone State.

Interesting about Camden. Never heard of it, likely because not "historic".

We're in VT and NH often and see a lot of covered bridges. Here's a couple I have pics of.
This is in Bath NH near where we stay in Franconia. Some good dirt roads around here and the Cross NH Adventure Trail goes by it. IMG_20190703_111235135_HDR by Dan Murphy, on Flickr In Cambridge VT along the Lamoille Valley RT IMG_20190716_114717195_HDR by Dan Murphy, on Flickr |
