It's been a crazy year, yes. I think I am down 20% from my highs, back at early December levels...but my mix is not what most advisors would recommend. I'm pretty heavy into SPACs...they've been good to me... (but now that everybody is talking about them, it's a lot harder to find a good one...)

No need to worry as the market is closed tomorrow.

It will rebound back to within 10% of it's February high by elections and take another small surge after that. By this time next year our 401Ks will be back to all time highs (assuming you didn't panic out and miss the rebound) and those of us that threw some chump change into the market over the last month will EASILY see 100% returns on it.

You read it here 1st.

I have a reminder set for 1 year from now and I will reply to this thread so everyone can tell me how smart I am!

I pretty much nailed this!

Apparently it is time for everyone to let me know how smart (lucky) I am!!!!

If I really was that damn smart, I could answer the $1,000,000 question. When to get the hell out of it? A correction is coming.

I invested on the dip in mutuals and it has worked out well. IRA and 401K are doing great. I am still sitting on some cash savings.

Correction implies it will be a (relatively) small adjustment.

What many see coming is something far larger than that...

Seems some key indicators and fundamentals are very much out of whack and I don't see how this is sustainable long term.

What a lovely quote.

But if there's a truck heading for ya, looking away won't stop it

BUT, 2020/2021 was/is 'seriously out of whack'..Many make some YUGE $ 'predicting' what may or what may not happen but again, last year and this year should not be an example of ANYTHING except how unpredictable 'life' can be.

Even in the lead up to the great recession...putting 5 people in a room and ask about the economy..got 6 or 7 'opinions'...

This thread was started in Feb of 2018. The dow had "plunged" to 23,500

Read thru it and see how many people have been predicting the collapse since then.

Today the Dow is at 34,200. A 45% increase in just over 3 years. It could drop 30% tomorrow and I'm still up 2% because I chose to look away.

You can live in fear of the truck all you want. I look at the traffic at hand and make my best judgement as to when to cross.

Fair enough fellas.

End of the day it's all about risk appetite and that's a function of ones ability to take the hit of a loss (if that did eventuate).

As with many (most) other things in life, it's all about timing and a healthy dose of luck.

I'm a fairly risk averse person and that's neither "right" nor "wrong", it's simply a function of my lived experiences and my personality.
