Yeah, I too loved the look of the deltas and had the Croce d'Aune for years...they were a bear to set up! the cable had to cut exactly the right length or the cover would not fit. too short and the and the cable is toast. what spelled the end was the lack of power for carbon rims.

They certainly can be a PITA to set up. I found that the modern Campy holders fit on to Deltas (both models) with no problem so that allows me to run better pads. If you look closely you can see that they're on those in the pic.

I am running the 1995-2000 pads on my deltas too. Works great. It made a dramatic improvement.

Yeah, different pads helped, but compared to modern calipers, even light weight calipers there was no comparison once you go with pads for carbon rims.
