I wasn't sure about the paint but I found a pic of a smaller frame with the same paint in the 2016 classifieds that looked very nice.

Bont sent me pair of their new Helix shoes. They are pretty fantastic, but to be honest when they sent me a photo of what they were going to send me, I wasn't super stoked about the stripes and texture. When I got them in person I fell in love with them though. They have a jazzy new retention system that wraps around the entire carbon sole which is supposed to give an even anchor point and eliminate pressure points. In the second photo you can see the cable routing through the carbon. They also added a carbon plate over the cleat holes on the inside of the shoes, which is covered by the insole. I just wore them on a roller session and they feel really comfortable. Heat molded them last night and they fit like a glove!

talk to me about your heat molding approach.
i've tried a few times to heat mold bonts to my feet, but felt like they never changed shape, even a little. what's your approach?

Here are the steps: -Preheat oven to 170 deg -Take cleats off shoes -Take out insoles -Place oven rack in the middle position (Careful not to let your shoes touch the upper heating element of the oven -Place shoes on cookie sheet and set timer for 20 min. -I put on some really thick socks and have them on and ready. -Take cookie sheet out and quickly place the insoles back in and put the shoes on. Keep your heels as far back as possible and then tighten down to a point where you would normally have them. Don't over tighten. If you tighten them down more than what you normally would, the sides of the shoe will take on that shape. So just tight enough to where you would normally where them. Then stand in one spot (I usually have my laptop ready for me to surf the web during this time) and lean forward a hair almost like you are skiing. Stay in that position 20 min. -Take them off and let them sit for 10-15 min. -Then redo the steps all over, accept this time put them in oven for 15 min at 170 deg. -I found that doing it a second time helps. it might do absolutely nothing more than just doing it once, but when I do it a second time, they just feel better. Also, there have been times where I can feel my small toe still hits the outter edge of the sole. I ended up redoing it again, but this time pushing my feet outward in the shoe to almost widen the toe box a hair more. That helped and solved that issue. *Also very important to note: DO NOT walk around when you are molding the shoes. The resin is cooling as it molds into shape and if you walk, it can crack the carbon sole. |
