Wow, you ain't kidding. Very nice, though I find that dial a little busy. Didn't even know that brand. Of course, I thought the 1815 was way beyond me at 20K. This guy comes in at 70K!!!

I prefer the Dornblueth 99.1. A beautiful watch from a company that only has about 9 employees.

Haven't heard of that brand either, but they make some really interesting watches. I like this one. the Q-2010.2 aub-auf... damn. Pretty.

It is beautiful indeed, so well resolved. The dial actually looks much less "busy" at normal size, from normal distance, with the seconds hand moving. Very elegant.

Lang & Heyne are very good, but definitely very expensive!

Dornblüth & Sohn are fantastic, a very small family operation in Kalbe, Saxonia. Their marine watches (their only style) are maybe the most beautiful interpretations of that genre anywhere, maybe with Hentschel and a couple of others. Very disciplined, with incredible craftsmanship, much done with old tools (the father was a watch repair man before the son become the master maker).

Dornblüth "Q" model use their "Quintus" movements, completely in-house designed/produced movement; the story of it is great. It is a super movement.

Another great (but I think they all are) Dornblüth is also the 99.5:
hours + minutes + center seconds + pointer date + power reserve, all impeccably organized. The option with applied numerals is incredible.

It is a great watch, but I always wanted them to make the power reserve outer circle the same diameter as the outer edge of the date numbers, and just move the "AUF" and "AB" inside, so that the two circles would be the same equal size visually and so better balanced. That detail has always felt odd, off a bit, especially when you look at the dial at an angle, like normal.

Fake?

Found a local ad for "genuine" Rolex Submariner $400.
How do I verify it's genuine other than take to jeweler?

You could 'try' to take the band off and ask Rolex about the serial number but I'm sure those will be bogus too.

But yup, look at guts...

No need. The premium Chinese copies are in that pricerange new, and unless you're a certified tech, an average jeweler can't tell those. The cheaper copies are easier.

To other's points, a good fake can be tough to tell. Many fakes are not that good.

The easiest way to tell a cheap fake is just make sure the second hand sweeps as opposed to ticks. If it ticks, you likely have a quartz movement inside a watch that should be automatic. heft of the watch itself is often an indicator if you have a good reference point.

Please post a link to the ad. I’d love to see a few pictures of this one.

Like the others have said...for that price it is unlikely to be genuine.
You just can’t buy a $10k ish watch for $400. No chance

Some of the watches I´ve had. The Sinn EZM3 was very accurate, somewhat miss that watch. The IWC was a wonderful watch as well, but I couldn´t come to terms with the bracelet. Otherwise an excellent timepiece and I would argue - at least for the 3536 that I had - a modern classic. All sold.

Found a second-hand Rolex 14060M back in 2010 for a great price - before they went through the roof like everything Porsche these days - and haven´t looked back.

I had a similar aquatimer, though mine had a white face. I don’t think yours has the sapphire ring with lumed numerals so is the model before or much before...

I had an issue with the bracelet too. It had the quick release feature and apparently wasn’t completed seated. The watch went flying off my wrist, and as you know it’s a hefty piece. That weight bent one lug when it landed and I couldn’t fit the bracelet back.

Tried to get iwc to help fix it but they wanted to replace the entire case for over a grand when I figured a little bend would fix it. So I bent it back myself... it was obvious when seen from the underside of the watch but otherwise not too visible.

Tank of a watch that I eventually sold due to being uncomfortable.
