I have been "collecting" watches for a little over 30 years. Buying watches that attracted my attention. Over time, I have noted that a number of watches that were once my absolute favorites have become relegated to my watch box. I think part of the change is linked to my declining eyesight. At any distance beyond about 5 feet, my eyesight remains very good, but anything closer, I really need reading glasses (which I rarely wear apart from when I am working on the computer).

I can't remember when the last time that I wore my Breitling Chronomat from the late 50's early 60's. Back 20 years ago, it was my absolute favorite. When I got married twenty-odd years ago, I wore my Zenith Pacific "el primero", now I can't read the date without glasses.

In their place, I now privilege two watches that have uncluttered light colored dials: a Breitling one-button chronograph (former Royal Canadian Air Force model) and a gold Rolex Date-just.

Sorry for the poor photos

That one button is very nice.

I have been in and out of the watch hobby for 35 years. It started with IWC; which I still love. Moved to Rolex (which I no longer love) and then Blancpain and then Seiko.

Yes Seiko. These is just something about stuff that just works. And of all things I may even buy (brace yourself) a Grand Seiko Quartz. One battery every five years, off no more than 5 seconds a year it does what a watch is made to do, right? And then there is the spring drive if I can't actually get myself to buy a quartz watch.

I think for the more normal watches you see in the wild, it tells 'others' how cool you are, cuz it's easy to see..'oh, a Rolex'..plus w/o it I couldn't see the date..

As mentioned, I wouldn't have a Rolex w/o one. 12,800 ft, what a giggle.

Massdrop

So if you are looking for a high end watch, Massdrop has been posting some nice pieces for good prices. Worth checking out

Also, if you propose a drop and they “pick” it, yours is FREE

Basically every Seiko at every level is amazing. I've got inherited 40 YO low-end Seiko quartz watches that keep rolling. The GS quartz makes a lot of sense....but spring drive is so tempting.

"jomashop" and "out of stock" rhyme for a reason.

Indeed. They've got some fire in their older and current lineup. Just some really classic looks.

Just recently scored an NOS 7t94-0bl0 in black. Super stoked but looking to swap out the band to something leather.

Where do ya'll buy your leather bands at? I'd love to do business with a local leather worker or what not.

I really like the ColaReb bands from Italy. I need an extra long band, and they offer some good choices.

Anyone enjoying old school pocket watches? I've got two Elgin's, one from 1904 and the other from 1909. They are both size 16s.
