Di2 junction box for hooking up charger: out front vs bar end?

I noticed on 2019 Trek Domane the box is mounted out front near the stem. Is there some good reason for mounting there vs using the bar end box? Why would Trek choose to do it that way?

I have two theories: 1)money, 2)they don't ride bikes and don't care

2019 Domane was really a bike sold at the middle/end of 2018, which means it was assembled early 2018, before the bar end junction boxes were appearing on OEM bikes.
