Thanks guys for all your feedback thus far.
BTW it wasn’t my intent to ask/rehash about braking in the wet, but rather your of overall impression of “ride quality” of carbon wheels.

Thanks again.

Stiffer? Yes. Harsher? Not really.

Are they noisier when riding?
Some of the early carbon wheels sounded hollow, like a kid's Big Wheel. Newer carbon wheels seem pretty quiet.

These would be clinchers- any harder/easier mounting tires?
I haven't noticed any difference.

Any feedback appreciated, as well as any suggestions for purchases, thanks.
I have one set of FSE that I really like, but they're no longer in business. I also have 4 sets of Black Inc. wheels that I really like, except for the internal nipples.

The Shamals have a more positive engagement and feel to them. The Lightweights stop ok, I don't know how to describe them but I don't get the same feedback through squeezing the levers that I get with the Shamals, if that makes any sense.

I think I misspoke about the newer texture brake tracks after rereading my comment about them. I feel they would make a noticeable difference versus older no texture brake tracks.

I live in San Francisco and have been riding carbon rims for more than 10 years, I'm all in. First carbon rims are stiffer and more responsive. I've got 4 pairs for rim brakes and 2 with disc brakes. I've ridden them mostly in the dry but have been caught out. I've used many different pads, but I like the blues ones.

I think 'ride quality' is determined more by tires than the rim material. I also think really hard to paint 'carbon rim ride quality' with one 'brush'...
IME, particularly BTLOS carbon rims..they ride great, and are very reliable.
