Can I transplant a potenza medium cage to a chorus short cage RD

I have a 2015+ chorus RD, I want a med cage but the chorus is $200, I already have the short cage so I found this -

https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/campagn...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Could I use that to successfully convert my RD to a med cage?

oldpotatoe implied "yes" in this thread, but of course it would best to run your specific combination by him before you buy anything.

Yes, I always agree with that option, to buy the complete component, especially for only $18.50 more.

Having two fully functional derailleurs is always better than having two cages and one body, which however one counts it only equals one fully functioning derailleur.

Altho the same picture, one is for 10s Centaur, made 2009/10 and Potenza is 2016+. Latest gen Centaur 11s cages will work..and I think the one adverted is one of those, not the early 2009/10 cage..but not certain.

Just don't be in a rush if ordering from BikeInn. Very likely looking at 30+ days to delivery.

haha yeah, my last order took a looooonnnng time. Definitely not in a hurry, the bike works fine as is with the 32T cassette but some gears are a bit sloppy.

I guess I could also just buy this -

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2018-CAMPAG...AAAOSwkvFaWTvT

or this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Campagnolo-...8AAOSwR39e~KDl

and do the swap. maybe do the potenza and have a spare or just sell it as short cage

Always you can put a wolftooth and do nothing else, easier way to fix your problem IMO. Those work really well.

It is your money of course but I am not understanding the logic in buying a medium cage only for $60-$75 when you can buy the entire Centaur medium RD for $90.

Then either keep the two RDs as is, one short one medium, or swap the cages if you prefer the Chorus mech/graphics with the Potenza medium cage. You could even the sell the complete short RD if you no longer needed it.

If he's looking to increase the capacity of his derailleur, then the Wolftooth won't help. The Wolftooth only increases maximum sprocket size, whereas a longer cage increases the amount of chain wrap, allowing larger sprocket and chainring size differentials.
