There is also the sexy black Colnago headset.
I ordered one for the incoming Master. : ) All kidding aside, I had the CK on my Savine and it was great, as expected. |

I recently tried an FSA Orbit X headset, and can say that it sucked big time. The lower rubber seal is smaller diameter than the race, thus the seal comes between the race and bearing. Can't tighten or the steering is super stiff, and if left loose then the steerer tube wobbles.
I contacted FSA and their response was 'take pictures and show us'. I just gave them detailed measurements, and wasn't about to take the bike apart to take pics. Anyway, had already taken the seal out temporarily and reassembled while my Cane Creek comes, and it operated normally - but is going in the parts bin. |

Whatever you do, don't buy a caged ball headset. They don't last near as long as cartridge bearing ones do and they're easy to replace the bearings as well.

I've used the FSA Orbits on two bikes for more than a decade, no issues...

Thanks for all the input!
I think Liberace has me hooked up. This old girl is getting a much needed refresh before the season starts and travel picks back up.
