Cages that won't scratch bottles

Mundane question, but anyone have recommendations for carbon cages that won't mangle bottles? Or is there a trick that I don't know about to lubricate your bottles, lol?

If your bike and bottles ever get dirty on a ride there is no cage that won't scratch them. Bottles slide in and out of cages and as soon as there's grit present the bottle will get scratched.

It's more about the bottles. My Specialized team bottles get scratched up in a week. Specialized bottles from GU or Nuun keep looking pristine for months. There's no such thing as a bottle cage that won't scratch up a bottle with a cheap finish.

Bottles are disposable and are going to get scratched. Who cares if they get scratched?

I use King cages and they don't mark my bottles, but they are stainless steel.

Agreed that bottles are disposable, it's not really a huge deal. Mine just look ratty really quickly, thought maybe someone had found a good solution.

I was just thinking that my bottles from Rivendell have held up really well and still look brand new. The plastic is clear and appears to be free of any marks.

I have carbon cages on C50, just for reference.

As mentioned, GU and Nuun bottles still look sharp after several months. My team Specialized bottles seem to have been done with decals or a very light silkscreen -- either way it rubs off easily and the plastic gets marked up as well. The GU and Nuun bottles are still Specializeds, but work better. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Sharp water bottles are like new tires -- you haven't been riding enough. You need some dust and scratches on them.
