2009 vs 2014 Campagnolo Super Record Crankset compatibility
Hi Everybody;
I have 2009 Campy Super record groupset on my bike and I want to change my crankset only with the new 2014 + model and keep the rest of the groupset which is in great shape. The reasons I want to do this is because the chainrings I have are compact 50/34, (I like 53/39 or 52/36) plus the crank arms are too long for me (175 mm), I need 170 mm. Also because the new crankset has the option to interchange between the chainrings - 53/39, 52/36, /50/34. The question I have will this work on my setup? I searched everywhere about this topic but could'n find anything at all. Campy website said that the older models are not compatible with the 2014 and newer models. I just don't have the cash right now to replace the entire groupset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

yes, you can literally try any crank with your SR or Record 11 setup. the shifters and derailleurs have to play nice, but your crankset can be any number of things. put a shimano crank on and ill bet it works. put a 9s crank on and ill bet it shifts. use an after market crank and yup, as long as the chain fits, it'll get the job done.
so yes, your old or new crank will work with your old or new shifters. im running a 10s compact on one 11s bike |

as mentioned, it will work just fine. you may need to lengthen your chain a bit, and raise your FD up a little, but that's it.
