Good on you. Ideally, the thief would not have been rewarded for his efforts, but I get it, circumstances. I once tried to arrange a sting with the local police after setting up a meeting to buy an obviously stolen bike, but they weren't very interested and basically told me to stay away for my own safety. Hope you don't eat any $$ on it.

Thanks all. The owner is very happy and is completely fine with giving me back my $115. The bike was apparently stolen 4 years ago. I offered the phone number of the guy i bought the bike from, but I dont think he's going to get cops involved. Funny thing is, when I moved to Boston 11 years ago, I bought my girlfriend at the time a bike from the same guy for like $30. It was chained to the same telephone pole and there have been bikes circulating there constantly. They've always been crap walmart bikes and old 5/6 speeds. Nothing worth anything really until now.

Makes me wonder if he's the guy who stole my Gitane track bike from my house two blocks from there.

Now that is a happy ending to a great story.

I think these comments about the proportions of that bike are probably really dumb.

Take off the DUI cyclist mods that the thief did and I bet it starts to look pretty normal, just going to be it's "normal" for someone who is at least 6'6". The original owner is probably going to take the flat bars and riser stem off and put a normal stem and drop bars back on it and then raise the seat up 6".

The typical frame aesthetics don't really work for super tall people... legs and arms get longer and out of ratio with torsos AFAICT.

OP you earned some serious Karma points here...

And here I thought it was one of the best looking Seven's I have ever seen, but I guess I am use to seeing them big.

Seven Axiom by Kobe*, on Flickr[/IMG]

I regrettably sold this one a few years ago.

First thing I saw was the giant headtube and I wondered if it would fit me. Frame looks perfectly proportional to me
