Going to Fruita for MTBing

I've been to Fuita a few times now. Did some MTBing in the Kokopelli trails and also did some 18 road trails.

I'd like to do the 18 road trails again this time when I am there next week. Would love if someone can share their gpx file for some epic whole day long loop for the 18 road/Bookcliffs area. Or any other place nearby that has similar flowy, fast flowing trails. Juts looking for a whole day MTB ride.

Thanks!

So many cool trails in GJ and Fruita

Don’t do the jeep trail around mile 18 unless you like tech climbs.

If you like fast and flowy, 18 road seems to be what you’re looking for. I just got back from there last week. You could do laps after laps to your desire there.

It was fun, but I liked koko trails better. Horse thief, Steve’s, etc. had some nice flowy sections with some spicy tech.

I need to explore the Lunch Loops in GJ.

on a trip out east I stopped to ride the area--had not previewed it. I didn't do horsethief--wish I had after seeing the rest of it online, but I had fun on other trails in the area

Regards 18 area--great fun, I went out SW I think from the main parking area and looped NW on legs of zippity-then east on a tougher trail until I got to some fun downhill runs that go back to the parking area--after that I just went straight back up the fire road and took other fun downhills back, did that several times. Even the non-tech stiff like Kessel Run are just super fun.

I don’t have any files to share.
18 road has endless “choose your own adventures” for the day right out of the parking lot, and there’s the edge loop...which most people do once... sarlacc is back there too.

There’s chunkier loops around the Kokopelli area. I really like Moore fun to start and then loop around to horse thief.

If you want to hit up grand junction, the lunch loops will be steep and chunky, but there’s just as many loops as 18 road right out of the parking lot. I like the other side of the lunch loops where the Jeep’s and motos play, too. If you haven’t checked out Butter Knife, I think it’s worth it.

Then there’s palisade. The palisade rim is a nice steep climb with a challenging figure eight loop middle that is well worth the climb. You can get some killer views on the way up and it’s one of the longer trail descents in the valley right now.

Of course the local shops will be a great asset too. Have fun out there!

Haven't ridden the area (yet), but this looks like a great way to do the 18 road downhills: https://www.trailforks.com/route/fru...ow-at-18-road/

I’ve ridden it probably 10 times...never started walking, but have never made it completely down without bailing or falling!

The comment about riding up is kind of inaccurate...if you’ve ever been a trials rider, going up is just slightly easier!
