Ulrich and Basso...
So Basso is officially cleared (according to Velonews). So why are 'they' (whoever they is) so focused on keeping Ulrich out, given they have no more evidence against him than they did Basso??

Can somebody tell what that article has to do with Landis other than the fact that he is American, the same as ESPN's target audience?

I wonder if that decision has anything to do with UCI/WADA etc. taking action against him? Weird that that article is on ESPN, but not on cyclingnews??

Ok, looks like Jan is cleared too:
This story is from our news.com.au network Source: Reuters Ullrich cleared of doping From correspondents in Madrid October 26, 2006 FORMER Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich is not implicated in Spain's investigation into doping in sport, news agency Europa Press reported overnight. It claimed it had access to the report issued by the investigating judge of court No.31 in Madrid, that said the German cyclist would have "no measures taken against him." It went on to say this report would be forwarded to cycling's world governing body, the UCI. The 32-year-old was suspended and then sacked by his T-Mobile team in July, after his name was linked to an anti-doping investigation by Spain's civil guard. After raids on addresses in Madrid and Zaragoza in May, Spain police found large quantities of anabolic steroids, laboratory equipment used for blood transfusions and more than 100 bags of frozen blood. From the raids, the civil guard compiled a list of moe than 50 professional cyclists who were implicated in the probe. Ullrich, who won the 1997 Tour, has said he is innocent of any doping allegations made against him. Last edited by Grant McLean; 10-27-2006 at 05:04 PM. |
