Where to spend your economic stimulus check

i've lusting after these frivolous things for while now, but the price tags have always made me hesitant. The ES check helped change that, now I can get 3 of these, one for each keeper in the herd....

On the other hand, it's a good thing they're all sold out, phew!1

Those are very handsome. Does he ship overseas?

It would look particularly dapper with some matching brass valve caps...

Thanks Gasman. Different strokes and all that but it’s hard for me to swallow that someone would get a payout from the government, not need it to survive, and spend it on bike parts vs using it to help others. I am weird like that.

It is nice. In fact it’s one of the best choices I have made in my life. Especially since I used to be the guy that wanted everything and because I had the means ended up with a lot of really nice stuff. Letting go of all that really has made me a happier person. But like I said above, it works for me, YMMV.

We paid off a credit card, and put the small balance in the savings account.
The way my wifes employer is slashing benefits (no more 401k match, no more vacation accrual) we're not sure what's going to get axed next, so we'll just assume it's going to be a rainy day at some point, and the cushion would be useful. As for stimulating the economy, not so much.
My suspicion is that alot of larger employers are going to use the current crisis to "restructure" their benefit offerings in the name of cost savings, and either never bring them back, or present them back to the employees in a reduced form. We are not amused.
On the plus side, she does still have a job, and I'm still over employed (full time with over time at the day job, and a side job that's pretty much just to access the shop/vendor discounts).
Frivolous purchases are at a standstill.

Bike stuff, new kit for me, new bike and helmet for my daughter, new chainrings, and XT pedals for my CX bike (1x back to 2x), bar tape, and fresh Campy brake hoods for my road bike. New floor pump, and a bulk pack of inner tubes.

Was the question..spend it anywhere you wish, no need to shame somebody about buying those "frivolous bike parts"..maybe the gent donates a TON of $ and stuff already...

I bought a rifle and the other $700 went to a local EFAA..Emergency Family Assistance Association....

Times are tough, no need to throw anymore stones..

the point of the stimulus was that it go as far and wide as possible, not help people survive - there are other social safety nets for that (to say nothing of whether those nets are intact)... the $1200 was for liquidity in the economy to keep the gears turning, so no shame in needing it or not, nor in spending, saving, donating, etc. All legitimate responses. the point was greasy skids.

Mine - household improvements or refinance costs. Throwing good money after good.

I spent all of our 2900 in local restaurants and shops.

A bottle of dom and latour, an omelette with a pound of caviar, and the entire jar of truffle mushrooms at the shop to finally make that bucket list pizza.

Ihave my wife anything she wanted for Mother’s Day with ours. The left overs went to other random things, car parts, house needs, etc. Best Mother’s Day in awhile and she was over the moon with the things I got and did for her.

That was a big deal tome, to treat her right. We both teach and it has been more difficult than people realize to be able to do what we do at the level we do it for the type of families we do it for. So, needing to take care of her first is my priority, so she got some spoils as did the rest of the clan.
