DHL : Staggering Incompetence™

It has now taken them 3 days to move one box 10mi across town.

Notice the "Destination Service Area" line at the top...
At no point in time was anything other than Tucson, AZ on the label...and yet, Philadelphia.

There is absolutely nothing weird about my address that would cause any sort of confusion.
Fedex, UPS, On-Trac, USPS, Amazon...all seem to be able to find me with ease and expedience...and yet DHL, nothing but trouble.

Did I mention they asked me to call the CS line this morning at 9am so that the CS person could then call the Bat Phone at the Tucson facility to make sure they delivered the package?
The customer, calling the service provider, to remind them to provide the service they were paid for.
SMH...

OH! And as I'm relaying the latest details to my girlfriend here she mentions she has something coming from Australia...via DHL...checked the tracking and guess what it says?

"Holding for Pickup as Requested"
(after bouncing back and forth between San Fran and Ohio facilities twice before finally going to ARIZONA)
Here we go again...

At least they owned up to it arriving to an incorrect facility. After my USPS package did that (multiple times) the tracking history was deleted and it appeared as a new shipment mid-way through the journey.

Instead of delivering it to me today (like they were supposed to yesterday, and the day before) - they decided to send it to phoenix.

I have no words.

Sounds like you're being pranked, and if it was on purpose... genius

It'll get to you, eventually. Keep in mind that it is a pandemic and folks are freaking out. Your average delivery driver is basically worn to a nub as a lot of folks are at home with a lot of time on their hands as they self medicate and order stuff. Those guys/gals are working 12 hour days stacked on top of each other. It takes what it takes

An item I ordered from ProBikeKit was shipped on May 21, arrived May 27 in a DHL van. I'm in Vermont, which has been less affected by the virus than many other areas. This may account for my drama-free delivery experience. YMMV.

As far as I remember, all my DHL shipments from overseas where delivered to me by USPS.
Given my issues here, I am wondering whether your problem is with USPS as well.

Ordered a couple of replacement bike tools from one of the UK dealers a week ago since they were out of stock everywhere I looked online in the US. Got a partial DHL shipment yesterday, with the other half of the shipment supposed to arrive today

Yesterday’s delivery had gone, if tracking is to be believed:

UK
Cincinnati (cleared customs)
Atlanta
Back to UK
Back to Cincinnati (customs again)
Back to Atlanta
My local post office

Before being delivered by USPS

The second part of the order is supposed to arrive today. Tracking for it says it has gone

UK
Germany
Back to UK
Ireland
Philadelphia (customs), where it’s sitting now

Also says it’ll be delivered today which seems... aspirational at best

At least the airplanes are getting some business!

^ You may be thrown off by the posting of local times. Doubtful it made it to the US then back to the UK then back again. Could be, but not likely.

Earlier this month I ordered a pair of Mizuno trail shoes from a UK reseller. Shipped by DHL, delivered by USPS about 5 days later (Massachusetts). Note, I paid a couple of extra lira for expedited delivery.

Sometimes the system works!

They decided to overnight it to Philadelphia.

What the hell is wrong with these people.

Im sorry but COVID, in Tucson, is not really an excuse.
Fedex and USPS have been FLAWLESS for months, hundreds of (mostly outgoing) packages.
UPS had an ACTUAL COVID outbreak in their Tucson facility and still managed to deliver my last box 3 days behind schedule.

DHL...seems like its just an incompetence outbreak.

25min on hold...another CS person as confused as I am, another promise to get it delivered on Monday.
Lets see what happens! Maybe they will send it back to Tokyo for a full do-over.

So far, DHL has been 100% for me on international packages but I’ve got two that are still in progress.

I’ve had a 50% loss rate with USPS. Two packages arrived with delays and odd bouncing around. The other two vanished. Ive got tracking through customs clearance and then nothing. I put in a service ticket and they marked it “resolved” and suggested filing an insurance claim.

As I said earlier, I am pretty certain this is actually USPS that is causing your headaches.

Good point. Try putting your DHL tracking # into the USPS tracking system and see what it returns.
