GunksNotDead 2024

Picture heavy post warning!

For the past few years, I've gotten together with a bunch of friends at Sam Pryor Campground for a weekend of fun and suffering.

Last year, the ride became known as GunksNotDead, and my friends Miggy and Ben made an event out of it.

Miggy found a venue, lined up three meals a day, including lunch delivery at Minnewaska State Park.

Miles of hike a bike, endless climbs, tamales from Queens, roller skating, whiskey, beer, weed, chunky descents, cuts, bruises, torn up derailleurs, destroyed free hubs, and FIRE 🔥 we burned an entire cord of wood in one weekend, one fire pit.

Looks like a lot of fun! I have ridden the Minnewaska carriage roads and had an impromptu hike up the mountain with our bikes with Angry and Efixler a few years back which ended up with me getting dehydrated and passing some kidney stones the next day!

This definitely looks like fun!

Great photos!
How did you get in, Pete? Did you have to show proof of residence in Brooklyn? Or bring a Riv or a Crust….

These are great Pete. I echo what Angry said. At the end of the day bikes are supposed to be fun. It's refreshing to see people simply having a good time with friends. Sorry I missed it but will hope to make it next year. - Tim
