Today's Copake auction

Did anyone here bid on an auction today? Lots of nice vintage stuff for sale.

Dang. Some stuff sold for an appropriate price (seatposts)…others (frames) were super cheap.

Haha not sure how to feel about the fact that I'd 10/10 buy that from a local classified.

How do these Copake auctions work? Is local pickup of stuff available if you win an auction?

I bought an antique clock through liveauctioneers and contacted seller before the sale about needing good shipped, fine with them, and then contacted local UPS store which came and wonderfully packed and shipped.

Don't fret, there's still time left.

Do they have more comprehensive information if you make an account?

A bunch of the music gear there are items where things look identical in a single picture but different versions have a 10x, 100x, or even 1000x difference in valuation.

I never really thought about how cycling never did identical looking items that actually have very different performance or value. Maybe frames in a series but they’re always slightly different and clearly marked.

E.x. There’s no authentic Chinese made version of Super Record that costs $200
