Headset spacers....?
These don't seem overly complex, so hard to screw up...right?
Where do you buy them, and are the cheap ones on Amazon (Platt Bike Headset Spacer) just as good as the "brand name" ones (Wolf Tooth Precision Anodized Headset Spacers)? The only ones I have ever had are the ones that came with my bikes....I am changing up some stems, and need to get proper stack height,etc....just not sure how much to worry about this. I hang out here, so my bike OCD is pretty......well, you know how it is. Thanks.

Whether that holds true to future endeavors or other brands/finishes, I'm not sure. If you need to test out heights, I'd say buy one of each size of cheap ones, then if you're happy with a certain position, consider getting nice ones then. |

If you're partial to slender stems, such as the Nitto cromoly stems that I favor, you'll be sad if you don't get thin cromoly spacers from Nitto or Sim-Works. Thick aluminum spacers don't look right.
I've seen thin aluminum spacers from White Industries, but I haven't tried them. |

I have a bunch of the Problem Solvers ones in 5 mm:
https://www.excelsports.com/problem-...er-1-1-8-black They work well and easy to get about right with a stack of them. I think they make 2.5 mm height if you are really picky on drop. |

Do you need blue ones? Just get the cheap ones..they are just aluminum 'tubes' in different lengths...and it doesn't really matter is they are an exact height...just make sure that you have enough space on top to be able to adjust the headset..5mm spacer on top....

If your stem is slim get the spacers from Rene Herse, there are other sources but they’re prices the same.

I picked up a Nitto UI-25 to replace the Thomson X2....then checked the stack height difference (40mm vs 36mm - doh!). So the Nitto might be headed to the CSI.....or find a 1mm spacer (Firefly?). CSI currently has black spacers, so with a silver stem I will want silver spacers. It has a black headset....don't really want to replace, but maybe. Depends how it looks......I have a few more spacers (15mm) there to work with. Funny how simple changes have so much scope creep!

Yep. Next thing you know you have an extra headset that needs a new bike.
