Waterbottle cages

Seems like waterbottle cages are ugly...are there really good looking bottle cages that don't make the bottles look like trash after a few weeks? I'm not ready to with fid-locks yet...I like the classic look of metal cages, but my bottles really look like they've been dragged through the gutter...asking for a friend.

King cages for the win. Either SS or Ti, good looks and a secure grip. Will outlast the bike as well!

I think the king iris is the best looking cage.

Also like the Nitto T and R cages

Bottles get marked-up by cages. It just happens.

King Cage Ti on my titanium and aluminum bicycles.
King Cage SS on my thinner steel bicycles.
Campagnolo Record cages on my CF bicycles.

I've used the same set of King Ti cages on my primary bike for a good 15 years and they still kick butt and weigh nothing.

One more for King Ti.
They may rub the paint on the bottles a a bit but they don't leave the black streaks the way all my former aluminum cages did.

Haven't launched a bottle in 6 years of using them either.

king stainless or nitto T cages. I think the king ti cages are a kind of strange looking because of the large tubing used.

bottles stay relatively clean but still need a scrub sometimes. It has been a really long time since I have used aluminum or carbon cages so I don't know how big of a difference.

I don't think it ever even occurred to me to care what my water bottles look like! Or is the scuffing that people complain about impacting the bottles' ability to hold water?

I have two King Iris cages on one of my bikes, and I will certainly grant this: Those cages will never launch a bottle! But I often feel like I'm getting a biceps workout just trying to extract the bottle from the cage. I prefer a slightly less tenacious grip from my cages.

Also, does anyone else who runs a pair of Iris cages have an issue with the cages contacting one another? Might just be a freak Perfect Storm of my frame size combined with its cage mount locations, but the outer "loop" of my two Iris cages are in such close proximity that one of them is skewed off-center in order to fit. Thinking of changing one or both to the conventional King Cage.

Actually I think my favorite bottle cage was an old and no-longer-manufactured Tacx model...not the Tao, not the Ciro or Radar or Diva...I don't remember what it was called [edit: Apparently it was called the Allure], it looked mostly like a bog-stock normal generic bottle cage except A) it had a couple of composite parts on a mostly metal structure; and B) it was bright yellow. Fortunately that worked with the orange bike I mounted them on, but I can see how that would be a dealbreaker for...well, most bikes.

my favorite also happens to be the king iris cages for their elegance and function. i don't ever pay attention to the bottle condition... the cages seem to work fine and bottles get dirty and get thrown out regularly because they're basically wear items. eventually all the bottle tops fail anyway i've kept some so long they disintegrate in my mouth on a ride.

i have some of the TI silcas coming in tomorrow so i will report back but they look identical to king ti: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eej6GZo9hbk&t=604s

Blackburn Chicane often overlooked but a great cage. I have been using Blackburn Chicane for years. They hold the bottle very well even on gravel rides, don't mar the bottle and look similar to a Ti King cage. I have two Ti King cages and I think the Blackburns are on par with the Kings.

Anything King (stainless, Ti, Iris) have worked well for me and Arundel Mandibles have been a similarly positive experience. King Ti may cost a few $$$ but they last.

My $0.02 agrees with your $0.02, as long as they hold water and don't get launched on every other bump or rut I never gave that any thought.

Just my $0.02 that no one paid for.

King Cage cages.
My favorite design is the Iris.
But the ti and ss classic cages are great too!
