drop bar 26'ers - let's see 'em

whos got a drop bar 26" mtb - ready to rock and roll wherever the road (or lack of road) goes?

Pretty sneaky way to get ideas for that 26" adventure bike you have in the making. I was considering doing the same to my GT Kaskar but have fun riding it as is.

have a peek at crust bikes. their romanceur frame takes 26x2.3 w/ fenders. the evasion is a 26+ bike. both can do 27.5 too.

I tend to think mtb drop bar conversions will have the drops high so you'll stay in them all the time, be able to brake and handle well. That would put the retroshift style shifting out for me. I vote bar ends (since that's what I have!).

Angry pal, technically my trucker is designed for 26' wheels but I have recently converted to 650b and took off the flat bar and replaced with drop bar so hopefully it still qualifies as an entry.

That would be a proper dirt drop conversion. The goal here appears to be more of a traditional drop bar setup for a 26er. Dirt drop setups with the bars high enough for the drop position to be primary is best suited for singletrack use IMHO. A good LD stem, Salsa P7 or P10 original or replica or anything with around a 53-55 degree rise is perfect for dirt drop conversions.

Mine that is seeing nearly daily duty on my lunchtime MTB rides. Single-speed all the way. Fortunately no extended climbs on the normal trails.

i have Retroshift/Gevenalle on 2 bikes and like them both. IRD makes a brake lever that accepts bar ends and/or dt shifters also

I'm seriously thinking about the same thing. I've got an old Ritchey "Ultra", fully rigid, that I want to put drop bars on. I think I want to run 9-speed with standard Ultegra brake/shift levers, and then use Travel Agents to convert the cable pull for normal v-brakes. Anyone have any thoughts on that setup?
