You mean GCN's April Fools' joke? That video has amassed more than 200k views in less than a week... The riders here have known this all along, but in the mainstream, wide tires not being slow is apparently still a pretty radical idea.

I am somewhat over-caffeinated this morning and the "what if" fairy is buzzing about my cranium. Perhaps/maybe the comfort afforded by wider tires actually leads to an increase in overall cycling performance? And maybe, dare I say my fine feathered fellows, it's all part of a bigger picture where "aero" gains are outmatched by "endurance" geometry, wider tires, and reasonable (i.e., compact) gear ratios? Now on to the absinthe and the undisputed supremacy of rim brakes...

No worries! And good advice about the bs: It's all about the ride.

Tire shape is an interesting topic. Casing construction and rubber thickness will effect the shape of the tire some. The lighter the tire the less of an influence I think but I have not seen a lot of info on this.
