You are correct, adding an oil would defeat the purpose of a dry paraffin lube.

I avoid the time consuming hot waxing by dissolving the wax in naptha, creating a quick to apply dry lube. |

On the other hand MoS2 is probably the number one extreme pressure lubricant and it comes as a very fine dry powder. The addition of naptha is also a great idea for an alternative to hot wax.

To those using Molten Speed Wax, how many miles between lubings?

PTFE and MoS2 (added to paraffin): Really worth it?... either as a combo or individually? It's expensive to get these to Australia. |

All mso2 powder is not the same. I found a source that sells the powder in several sizes, with 1.5 micron being the finest. A micron is 40 millionth's of an inch. I would assume that a finely ground powder would be best.
Dissolving molten speed wax in naptha is something I'd try. One ounce by weight of paraffin requires 6-7 ounces of naptha to dissolve it. Any less naptha will produce a mush, unless heated above room temperature. Last edited by Dave; 09-02-2019 at 07:40 AM. |

https://moltenspeedwax.com/products/...ace-powder-55g The instructions for application are by using a brush, but would there be any reason why it couldn't just be added into the pot of paraffin to include it in the original bath? If so, how much powder should I be adding to the crockpot with, say, 800 grams of Paraffin? |

I probably go about 250 miles between, and before every race.

Not scientific, but I used about a 1/2 tsp per block of Gulf Wax.

Scored a 5 quart (i know, yuge) crock pot on craigslist free and ordered some Molten, so going to give this a shot! Hopefully the massive crock-pot wont be an issue.
