the Endpoint will likely be almost twice as much as the Black Mountain if pricing holds true (not sure if the disc mounts/thru axle will raise the price much)... looks like a nice bike though...

Segmented fork is dope. Rear dropouts are gross.

I absolutely love my Monster Cross. Most fun I've ever had on a bike,at 72 I figured it would be the last new frame I would ever "need" to buy, it does everything really well. Thanks for nothing fourflys, I just added another thing to my bucket list and to think that list was just about completed.
My Monster Cross with Soma C-Line 700x38c Tires, pretty much the sweet spot for riding in the city and occasional dirt excursions to get to the other side. Last edited by bobswire; 07-04-2017 at 08:19 AM. |

All the ugly of the Salsa Alternator and none of the versatility. I don't see what these offer that a Paragon option doesn't.

Bob, can you please tell me the actual width of those tires? I'm trying to decide between 35s and 38s (actually Paselas but those should be pretty similar) for a bike and the real width would be a great help.

Using calipers I get 37.05 on A-23 rims. There are some for sale at a good price on Ebay, good seller,I've purchased from them before. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Soma-C-Line-...4AAOSw8lpZNyY0 And Panaracer Pasela Protite, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panaracer-Pa...53.m1438.l2649 |

Since I am really contemplating, something along these lines I ask again how do these compare to say the Soma Wolverine, Salsa Fargo etc?
What others should I be looking at? |

Here is my take whenever a Black Mtn is compared to a similar priced bike... If you read the history on Mike Varley's blogs, this is a bike he put a tremendous amount of thought and work into. And Mike rides the bikes he sells, and that means a ton to me.

This is great news. If the Monstercross fits 27.5x2.2" tires, the Warbird will be going bye-bye.

Looks fun. I just hope the final product is not red.

I am not sure I need 650b and disks, but I am not sure Mike is totally on board with it either. He does seem to be open to trying it though.
I am running 700x50 Continental Travel Contacts on my Monster Cross and it turns it a great 29er. I am liking the versatility so much of the MC that I may need to add(if that even makes sense) one of his Road bikes now that he making a 64cm size. |
