Mountain bike question/fork

hey guys I saw this Lynskey Ridgeline on the bay that would fit me and perked my interest. not having any knowledge of mountain bikes, would you be able to put a suspension fork on the bike or does the geometry only dictate a solid fork? thanks for any advise.

I'm sure you could put at least a 100mm suspension fork on there. But the components are really outdated. A triple chainring? Haven't seen one of those in eons. I don't think the bike is worth what they're asking.

Has a suspension seatpost I'd toss or try to sell.
Think the fork is carbon so would be a nice bike for the right type of riding.
Agree too high.

That thing looks painful to ride by today's standards

It will take a 100mm or so fork, but by that price you're buying a new, modern bike. Way too much $$ is being asked for a museum piece

That frame has a suspension corrected geometry. In other words you can put a suspension fork on that frame with no issue whatsoever.

Cheers,

You could definitely put a 1/8" straight steerer, 100mm travel fork on there. but I wouldn't pay over $800 for the bike as is. A decent fork is going cost $500 or so. Plus it is 135mm rear spacing with a regular QR. I would keep looking.

The Pros Closest seems to price their bikes too high IMO.

Should make a decent xc bike with or without the suspension fork. You could find a mrp loop for under $300 with a straight steerer. I believe someone here is selling one for $200. Remove that big chainring and you’re off and running!

I wouldn’t touch this bike at that asking price, but I have had luck with proscloset and offers. One frame was up for over 6 months before they sold it to me for what I offered every couple of months. It just took the back and forth emails and zero bids to convince the person who’s bike was on consignment that their asking price was way too high.

If you have $1600 go to your LBS and buy anything they have at that price.
A 2019 for $1600 will be way more fun

thanks to everyone for your input to save me from a huge mistake. got drawn in because of size and titanium. I will either walk away from the bike completely or offer like 50% of what tpc is asking. again thanks for sharing your mountain bike knowledge.
