Spoke replacement is pricey.
This is the part that scares me with my limited knowledge.

$25 for a spoke mini kit? That's pretty cheap.

Just slap a shimano compatible freehub body on there and go ride....

Go take a look at these in person and negotiate, because that's about the price of a new set online, and he's had the listing up for a month:

If you want to go cheap,

If you want them to last, go with oldpotatoe.

If it matters to the OP (it may not based on his weight), I recall seeing that there was a rider weight limit of about 95Kg or so on these (around 210lbs). I looked into the Zondas based on all of the feedback here and had my interest wane based on the fact that I'm pushing the upper limit on them.

Sounds like Ft Collins to Boulder is a good potential fit. If I lived that close to Peter, I would (literally) be knocking on his door for my next build.

If you want a pair that will last and can be serviced / refurbed easy then get a custom set from oldpotatoe. DT rims / spokes / hubs with a high-quality hand build will be outrageously good forever.

Can't handle 32mm....not sure it will even be able to go to 28mm.

On another topic....either oldpotatoe is really good or he has a lot of people fooled! JK.

If you are in Ft. Collins, Oldpotatoe is your answer. I have a wheel ready for pickup with him right now, the 7th he has built for me. As a larger rider, I've always sought out the best wheel builder in the area to make sure I get something I can depend on. Peter is that and a good dude to boot.

Tell him what you want, or tell him how you ride and let him decide, and then wait until he tells you to come to the Spud Cave to pick it up. You will be happy with your wheels.

OldPotatoe

Just a quick update....OldPotatoe is building a set of wheels for me.

I am really excited as my frame just got back from refinishing and I have all my other parts on order...

Should be up and running in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the help,

Jonathan
