actually I think saddle on the middle of the rails is a good discrete starting point. Even if kops were the correct spot, it's not terribly easy to measure properly (especially alone) --are you on a level surface, front of kneecap vs tibial tuberosity...drop the heel vs point toe alone introduces enough variance, and then there's the static sitting on the saddle at point x trying to measure with no load vs dynamic fit actually pedaling and settling into a sweet spot

tried this on my bikes and could easily do it on them.....but Ive worked in two bike shops fit people be4. Thanks Dave.
