The one thing to watch out for is that your fork which is designed for a 12mm TA can seat a 15mm end cap. Nifty indeed!

I think carbon forks might be made a little sloppier, and I'm sure there are forks where this will work. All the steel 12mm I see look like they would not allow a 15mm hub to fit. Which is too bad, I have a 15mm dynohub I would like to use on 12mm TA

I have a couple of these adapters and they have worked great for me. I've used them on wheels and on my bike rack fork mounts. I think I only have 12x100 forks now (other than my mountain bike) but I'll continue to use them for the rack.

Is this meant to be more of a permanent adaption (I assume so) or can you slide the adapter in and out easily ?

Ive got the mtbtools version - alloy instead of carbon fiber. It’s worked great for me over a couple of years now and let me use a pretty nice XC race wheel set as my gravel bike wheel set.

The sleeve slides in and out fairly easily. I just use the axle to push it.

Along the same lines, I’ve used these to get me by until a new fork came in so I could keep all my wheels 12/12 and swap between bikes as needed. Held up great under use.

NOT a thruaxle expert but why oh why not make 'road/Groad/Cross/etc front disc hubs..non MTBs...15mm TA fronts? What's the advantage of a 12mm vs 15mm TA front? Weight..?? 12mm works for rear...
Seems like another 'standard' that is an answer to a not asked question.

I was super annoyed wen they introduced 12mm TA because it's ridiculous and I have a batch of 15mm road wheels and dummy axles for framebuilding. The difference in weight has to be tiny. My mind immediately went to a very cynical explanation. But maybe they just wanted the most optimal solution

I was going to just stick with 15mm, but now I want one of the SON TA connectorless hubs and I figure I should go with 12mm for that
