Broken strap Specialized Comp shoes
Probably need to get a pix but top strap of Spec shoe broke off where sewn to body. Rachet strap was left in side buckle and not supporting foot.
Any repair option recommendations?

Cobbler
Im guessing a cobbler could come up with a repair. Note I used the word "cobbler" you need someone with skill. Most shoe repair folks are not skilled in real shoe design/repair. Ask around, likely someone in your town can handle this

assuming you have a needle that is stiff enough to push through the shoe leather why cant you just sew the strap back to the shoe yourself? all the load comes when that foot is going from 1:00 to 7:00 downward so I bet a home job could be fine. if you take it to a cobbler they will do the same or perhaps put a piece over both strap and shoe and sew the strap to the piece and the shoe to the piece.

I had the same problem. I created a plastic adapter to bridge between the plastic ratchet strap and the fabric "tongue". Then, I drilled and pop-riveted the 3 pieces together.
The plastic is a 0.0125" thick polyester shim stock. (Sourced from McMaster-Carr) Pop-rivers are either 3/32" or 1/8" aluminum pop rivets, installed from the inside. I made this repair 4 years ago, and it's still holding. They're currently my back-up shoes, since I bought the exact same pair shortly afterwards for $35. You can still find these on various used gear sites. |

Specialized does a very good job honoring warranties. Might give them a call to see if they can work something out.
