Boredom

What is duller to watch than luge and skeleton racing? Who wants to watch people slide down a tube while lying as still as they can? Maybe they should just roll bowling balls down the track to generate the same spectator excitement.

Now mass-start snowboard is something else entirely.

At least it isn't figure skating. The clock tells you who won, not a committee.

Bingo! 80 plus MPH with your a$$ hanging out there if something goes south. It's not like these people are on a roller coaster. They are driving the vehicle with not much room for error. The players have some serious cojones in my opinion.

I think it's great. Another sport that requires stones.

As someone who loves watching bike races that sometimes take 7 hours, there is something pleasing when a race essentially takes 1 minute. haha.

At this level, there is so much nuance in even very fast/short events, that it is hard to really appreciate any sport presented by NBC's coverage. So much gets lost due to time constraints and a conscious decision to hype American athletes at the expense of developing a better understanding of the sport for the audience.

It's a shame really.

I really dig that long track speed skating... looks like it would be so much fun to just be out there and going that fast just on your own energy.

Bicycle stage racing is pretty boring until you understand the game within the game too.

I think the sliding sports suffer on television because the tightness of the course and high speeds mean it's hard to get a sense of what's actually happening.

Whenever my wife saw me watching prop racing on my big monitor, she would say, "is that really interesting?" I just turned my head around and smiled at her.

It's ok.

eeewwww.....haven't really watched the olympics this year..spotty coverage and nothing 'streamed'(cut cable)....nascar-esque mass start snowboard(snow-'cross'?)..getting more like X Games.

Plus kinda overshadowed by 'other' events of the day.

I haven't watched the Olympics in years but luge was always one of my favorites. For me dull is just about any popular American sport....NFL, MLB, NBA...I'd rather slam my head against a wall than watch those for even 5 minutes.

Not sure why both luge and skeleton are needed in the Olympics. I did find the luge team relay actually kind of fun to watch.

Luge is great and one of the few sports that an old fart like myself can actually train for while watching the event.. Just recline the La-z-boy as far back as it will go and lean a bit into the turns as they pop up on the coarse. I'm so good at it that I can complete multiple runs without spilling a beer.
