Super Record S
I think now I'm getting a little confused with the Campag line-up. Have we discussed this here?
So now there is Super Record WRL Super Record EPS Super Record S Super Record (mech)(disc and rim) Record (disc and rim) Chorus (disc and rim) Centaur (rim) I thought this was an interesting real-world vid of SR S https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8lIEd5O5x8

Just a rumor or hearsay....it was inferred to me that it was designed as an OEM group for complete bikes.

Groupset inflation
There was a time when Super Record was not a complete group unto itself, but was a name applied to a few select high spec. components. When Super Record became a complete group, it was a singular pinnacle, above all the other Campagnolo groups. Somehow now the majority of Campagnolo groups are called Super Record.
Maybe this is like Lake Wobegon, where every single child is above average. |

I've been on Campagnolo almost exclusively since 1988. Never really cared for Super Record. To me, it's a bit like the gold plated Colnagos: a bit too much. Always been a Chorus guy, absolutely stopping at Record if I wanted to splurge.

I've been on Campagnolo almost exclusively since 1992. Never really cared for Chorus. To me, it's a bit like 105/Ultegra: a bit too pedestrian. Always been a Record guy, moved to Super Record when it became the top offering.

I have three bikes with Shimano, a MTB with XT 11, gravel bike with a mix of 6800, 8000, and 685 levers, and a Lynskey with 8000 which will soon have a powermeter crankset. Shimano stuff just works and the parts are reasonable and readily available. Finally, I have one SRAM AXS bike, an Open Min.d with 12 speed Red. It is the first and only electronic shifting bike I have. I like it, but swapping between bikes requires me to reconfigure my brain in the first few miles. I've had no issues with AXS, and Force level components are good and similar to using Ultegra parts in an otherwise Dura Ace drivetrain. |

All of those I'd need to pay 1/2 cash and 1/2 credit card so my wife wouldn't kill me when she saw the credit card statement.

My cursory search indicates that the price difference between SR S and Dura-Ace 12 speed is +/-$200. That doesn't seem to warrant their whingeing about price, but maybe it's different in the UK. Interesting comment from the mechanic about Campy needing to make things easier for bike shops. OTOH, if the reviewers are correct that "nobody rides Campag in the northeast (?)" then perhaps Campy's smart in ignoring those shops. |

I realize this is purely anecdotal, but fwiw when I lived & rode in New York City I knew at least a dozen other cyclists who had Campy. Been living & riding in Arizona now for 3 or 4 years and I've still only met one other cyclist with Campy here.
