Goofy stuff, agreed

But generally speaking, but the common denominator for here is a little taller vs. ebay

I remember I DID own a C40 that had 3 guides that were designed to have the housing go all the way through to the rear brake. Could this be the same design? Anyway, hope the ferrules I sent do the trick.

I've replaced stops like that before - you just need the stop, the proper sized rivet and the rivet gun. Don't overthink it.
I wouldn't rely on a plastic ferrule for my brakes either. Call Colnago for the right part, or measure the distance between the rivets on the existing stop, and order the from a frame supply house.

Drill off the head of the rivet, pop the rest out with a punch, install using a rivet gun, and usually a spacer if the head of the rivet gun doesnt fit in the space you have. I've done this for several frames and it's no big deal, and much more reliable than a plastic ferrule, that if it squeezes thru the existing stop under pressure is a problem when you really won't want it.

eBay indeed. And from a Italy - so dealing with returning it would be a complete pain.

Did you buy the C40 from this guy?

He had an issue with sweat and the ferrules and posted that he was planning on drilling them out...

Why? Because we're both recommending against doing something stupid that could get you killed?

Should I feel bad?

Such a common problem on those frames. I had the same thing happen on my Ex-Power front cable stop. The ferrule was completely seized, and wouldn't budge. Some WD-40, a Phillips screwdriver, a rubber mallet...very gentle tap tap tap, and out it came. No drill, no drama, no damage.

I guess rigging something up in a uni-cheek manner is perfectly fine for something so trivial as brakes. I hereby rescind my advice to fix something the right way because working brakes are completely unnecessary... thats gotta be why they have two for redundancy. Probably completely overthinking it considering it takes all of 5 minutes to do the repair correctly.

Just think of all the money bike manufacturers could save by not installing stops and just using plastic ferrules. What could possibly go wrong.
