Grail bike

Miyata Century
1990
Carbon tubes
Gold plated lugs
I recall when this first came out but
have never seen one.
My cursory web search found a couple
pix- better ones of the mountain bike
version Miyata also produced.
My questions:
anyone have more info/better photos
of this bike?
Better still- anyone have one to sell me?
(half joking)
No not joking

I wanted one of those back in the day.....I beieve had super thin titanium tubes wrapped in carbon... and I believe one of my friends has one (cant remember if this one or another carbon model or the titanium model), his is like a size 60, no idea if he would sell it but so far i can tell you the frame is mint, had been hanging easy for the last 7 or 8 years.

Oh I think he has the carbonthech.

I had several Miyatas over the years and one I bought new so I was sort of into them but I never seen the 1990 Miyata Century in real life just in pictures.

Have you ridden one of those? It may not keep grail status if you do..
Not saying they are all the same but those early 90s carbon/ lugged hybrids could be a disappointment. I had a trek 8700 in a great deep red color. It looked so cool but felt so dead and flexy. It gave the impression of having a rear flat tire all the time. Could not be happier the day i sold it and immediately bought the first steel bike i found.. felt like back to the living.

Big Miyata fan here, own an 81 Team and an 83 Koga-Miyata SuperWinner, yes, some of the older Carbon tubed bonded Miyata frames/bikes have a beautiful appearance, however I have never read a substantiated positive ride review on any of the bonded Miyata frames/bikes. If you are looking for a wall hanger more power to you, a rider look else were.

Lots of Miyata talk over on the Bike Forums in the Classic & Vintage section.

Did the bonding between the lug and CF fall apart? or was the ride rough or dead? what was the problem with them?
