Yikes! Get well, heal full, and heal fast.

I look at it this was, it's better to have the surgery than the other alternative.

Once you're over the hump you'll be on your way.

Thanks to all!!

I'm good, relatively young, loving family, otherwise healthy, going home from hospital today (yipppeeeee).

It's amazing how emotional this stuff can be when seen in the light of day.

I am 3 months out of bypass surgery. I have gotten back on the bike despite it now being late fall going into winter here. Take it easy (ish) on getting back on a bike outside due to the healing time needed for the sternum.

But absolutely don't forget the emotional aspect of this. It can be both good and bad almost at the same time. Enjoy the good.

Good luck.

I had a quintuple bypass done in 1987. It will take a while for your sternum to heal. I hit the ground walking then graduated to a bicycle.

Keep your pillow handy. Coughing hurts a lot. I had a couple of cats that loved to jump on my chest when I was laying on the floor. Always had my pillow close.....

So here I am sitting in hospital, 6 days post op after open heart surgery and a double bypass and I think I can confirm this is the suckiest sucking year in a long sucking time.

I do hope your mileage varies. That is all.

Wishing you a speedy recovery my friend.

I have no firsthand experience with this kind of surgery, but I'll say that I wish you well and hope yours is a speedy recovery!
