Not sure where I saw it posted before, but someone had installed a custom device from their roof that was basically just a pipe that came down and terminated in a tapered cone, similar to these:

To work on the bikes, they simply removed the seatpost and inserted that cone into the seat tube and tightened the binder. Hopefully that description makes sense!

Talking

Alright guys, a little update. It's finished. And it works! Here's a bit of the process if anyone is interested:

We ran the compressor (located in other building to dampen sound) through:

Oh yeah, and here is proof of concept:

In conclusion, it allows us to comfortably store bikes
underneath at the end of the day. Storage space is limited,
and we have a large rental fleet (150+ bikes).
I am pretty happy with the final product.
Thanks for everyones insights!

That's awesome. I considered doing the same for my garage (so I can get the nose of my car under it), but I've been too lazy.

If it was mine, I'm sure I'd bash my head/back on it about a thousand times before I learned my lesson. Probably my only misgiving.

BTW, your shop looks like a Park Tool catalog. That's a good thing in my book.

Thanks guys! The bench and wall are new as well, so it's still a wip but it's coming along.

Nice work

What sort of space is this? Looks like you could use some insulation and some heat!

Have fun

Cool, I looked at something similar with a hinge to get it out of the way when not in use.

It's an addition to the original building. Insulation is on the docket. It is quite cold in there currently!
