I’m seeing $1099 for the top model at apple.com, still a huge load of money for a phone.

That said, the dual sim capability will probably make me buy one — so I can carry just one phone.

Nobody in their right mind is going to pay that much for a phone, imho. The iPhone 7 is expensive, but its a lot cheaper than the X series. Its all about fashion though, and we already know about the insatiable buying habits of fashion conscious Americans. Fashion is what Apple is banking on.

lol.... plenty of people will be buying that phone just like people were saying the X was too expensive and everyone I know has one.

Glad I have the 8, I will have my home button for a few years before they strip that away from me.

you guys dont understand.

they let you finance them.

it's only 60 bucks a month over two years.

better buy the insurance on it though, another 15 or so/month.

going to need unlimited data to power that hotrod too.

of course everyone else in the household will NEED one too if you get one.

no problem! put the whole bill on the old credit card.

buy now, pay later!

True that, the worst part is in 12 months it'll be obsolete. I have an SE iPhone (Special Edition) seems I never learn, I purchased the first SE Imac.

I like to think of prices in terms of cycling equipment, so to me that's a frame, nice wheelset, groupset, or possibly a complete bike depending on what I'm looking at.

I was looking at the base model as I have no need for a 512 GB phone. But you are correct.

What is Apple thinking?? You can’t make real money that way. Unless you count a trillion bucks as real money.

The 64GB model is $1,099. If I'm paying that much, it needs to last quite a bit longer than phones normally do. I mean, it's not going to be obsolete in 12 months, that's an overstatement. But by around 5 years, it's going to be a noticeably poorer user experience.

They sold just over 200 million phones last year. They seem to know what they are doing (vast understatement). Bring out new blingy things at high prices for the “gotta have it” crowd then let up on pricing over the next year or two. And repeat.

This is kind of astounding. But not so much when compared to the price of the Motorola “brick” as shown earlier in this thread. I think mine was near 2 grand. And that was back when 2 grand was a lot of money. And it was only a phone.
