Tour Divide
Anyone paying attention?
Going into the big hills it looks like we have a good old fashioned bike race going down. http://trackleaders.com/tourdivide19 Also The Radavist has some very good coverage. https://theradavist.com/2019/06/2019...e-race-part-1/ https://theradavist.com/2019/06/2019...e-race-part-2/ And you gotta love Alexandera, last years female winner running SS this year in a pair of Red Wings. https://theradavist.com/2019/06/chum...titanium-29er/ |

The snow must make things brutal for all.

Yeah, I think they are dealing with 40's and 50's and light rain right now.
185 miles a day on a bike with very little sleep and piles of junk food. There is a pic of Lael drinking 1/2 & 1/2 out of the carton. So many calories. |

Exactly. The big tours have become Madison Avenue versions of their former selves.

I definitely have my eye on all the Oklahoma boys.
Ryan Simon is in 1st place for the SS category. He slept on the side of the road for 3 hours last night, and he'll probably hammer with little to no sleep all the way through New Mexico. Dylan Morton, Jeff Sapp, and Austin Turner are all grinding away with the whole Stillwater/District Bicycles crew cheering for them. It's so awesome to watch. |

Additional coverage is the last thing the event needs. More attention will bring in more unqualified racers, cheaters, dopers,, pros, etc who will want the rules changed to make it easier.and fundamentally alter the spirit of the event.

meh is what I have to say. You really think unqualified racers, cheaters, dopers and pros are going to do a 3k mile race....

Yup. If you've followed the race over the years, know some of the participants, and have read some of the discussions on forums where the racers actually post, you would find that those are real problems that have cropped up as the event has become better known.
