15% @ ebay today
FYI
Must use the app. Max $100 bucks. Whole cart. if you've had your eye on something, looks like this is the Spring deal.

Very nice, thanks! Time to open my wallet for that finishing kit I’ve been eyeing.

WTH I know there is some person at eBay that clicks the button to launch these discounts every time I buy a bike. Just paid for one 9 hours ago!

Thanks Nick! You just saved me $100 on a set of Ohlins shocks for my Honda Monkey.

Thanks...learning to keep a few things I need down the road in my cart for these occasions.

I wonder why the discount code is only valid through the app - why are they trying to drive you to use the app? Does ebay get some added advantage of users using the app instead of the we interface? Perhaps app allows them to track more of the users personal information?

Also all trends point to mobile shopping usurping more and more of the total revenue vs traditional desktop/laptop online shopping. With the tax refunds starting to roll in it makes sense for the promotion to only apply for an interface that's more lucrative and provides more end user information. Also, it probably pushed a lot of users to install the app. Capitalism at its finest. |

this is my guess. i know it's the only reason i installed the app. now it's on my phone and it would never have been without this discount...

Don't you get it? We're addicted!
It is the only reason I installed the app on my phone too. Then I uninstall it lest it track me in some yet undisclosed fashion. |

I liked the app a lot, then I sold something that got a lot of bids so all the notifications drove me nuts. Turned off notifications and totally forgot ever looking at the app.
I was thinking about installing it again on the new phone though |

I like the app for the important feature of being able to snipe bids on stuff without being chained to my desk at home/work. I do prefer a normal sized monitor when available, so I added my 8 items to my cart on the PC and then just used the phone app for checkout.
I blocked the app from sending me notifications, and blocked other optional permissions (camera, location info, storage). The other permissions it has seem fairly innocuous and necessary for it to work. I don't see how the app would siphon any personal info to ebay that I wouldn't have to provide via the web interface anyway in order to buy/sell/ship/receive stuff. I've been using ebay since 1998. They have a fairly comprehensive history of the types of stuff I've bought, and probably a record of my prior addresses that rivals the credit bureaus'. Granted, by using the mobile app I have revealed the big secret to ebay that I own a smart phone. Ooooo, better look out, big brother's comin to gitcha!!! |
