Recommend me a wheelset

I'm running GP5000 700x32 on my Bob Jackson and all my wheelsets are old enough that max inner width is 15mm, so the tire measures a tad over 30mm. That rim is now not recommended for a 32mm tire either, although I'm not worried about this. I'm kicking myself for selling a couple of very nice wheelsets in the past 2-3 years for not much $.

Anyway - what wheelset, QR, 100/130, aluminum rim, 32 spokes or less, lets say inner width 18-20mm? Not too expensive, this is not a weight weenie bike Current wheels are 6600 Ultegra, 32 spokes to Open Pro rims.

I just bought some White Industries T11/Astral Solstice 24/28. I've had T11s before and they're great, these Solatice rims seem pretty nice, good weight and plenty stiff. I'm using 28 Corsa Controls.

I’d just get Old Potatoe to lace up some Velocity Quill’s to Bitex hubs.

Of course, on my current rim wheel bike, I’m running Zonda’s. Excellent wheels as well. But I think they’re 17mm ID?

FWIW, with our warmer weather I had a chance to take my Peg for a spin. Yikes, that’s a lovely bike! Well set up Record 10 speed (y’know, even a hack mechanic gets it right once in awhile) and 28mm Panaracer clinchers on vintage Campy Nucleon wheels (inner width 15mm). Had previously mounted those same tires on an 18mm inner width rim and they were too tall to fit.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe wider rims have many benefits, but they are not a must on every bike.

I have a spare set of Dura Ace C24's (9000 series) that I'm looking to sell. The inner rim width is 17 or 19mm, not sure off the top o' me head. Would those fit the bill?

Yes rim brakes. Current hubs are QR Ultegra 6600, definitely not disc!

Could try just backing down to a 30 or 28mm tire, M. Conti GP5k or Vittoria Corsa Control 30 would be great on that bike.

For wheels, if you have the hubs, DT R460 is a good rim to build up a wheelset. Think it's 18mm wide.

Pretty sure those are 15mm inner width, like the wheels I have now - am I wrong?

Agree with NHAero. The inner width on those wheels is only 15mm.

I've run that bike with narrower tires most of its life but I am liking the wider tires. I have skinny tire bikes to scratch that itch. But maybe just getting new rims built to the 6600 hubs would be a good idea!

DT swiss wheels would fit the bill here, there always seems to be solid new or takeoff 1600-1800g wheelsets for sale for $200-300.

I would go with the new Boyd Altamont alloy rims. 21mm internal width. Reuse your current hubs.

I had a set built up 20/24 and so far so good. Mine are built-up "budget" WW at 1440g. I was expecting them to be flimsy, not the case at all. Very responsive and zero brake rub, I run my pads fairly close.

I found an on-sale new wheelset with the DT460 rims and Tiagra RS400 hubs and DT Swiss spokes for under $250 shipped. I haven't used Tiagra level hubs but other Tiagra items I've used have been good. Thoughts?

Haven't used Tiagra hubs but I'm sure they're fine. I have a set of DT460s on Ultegra 6800 hubs laced 32x3 running labeled 34mm Vittoria Corsa N.Exts (measure 32 or 33). They're good no nonsense wheels.
