Conversion Question
I have a buddy who has an older road bike with 10 spd 105. He'd like to convert to a flat bar setup for his wife. Is there a set of 10 spd shifters from Shimano that are compatible with the 105 10 spd derailleurs? What about brake levers.

I believe to keep your current derailleurs, he needs Tiagra 4600 flat bar shifters (I believe Tiagra 4700 flat bar shifters work with a different pull ratio). Shimano also makes Tiagra flat bar brake levers that should work with his brake calipers.

I just went through this, converting my drop bar bike to flat bar. I used MicroShift R10 shifters which I think are a step up from the Shimano Tiagra shifters. They’re quite nice and shift very well.
For brakes I used Tektro cantilever compatible levers. These match up with the road caliper pull ratio nicely. |
