Campagnolo Bora Freehub & SR Cassette Question

The situation:

Wheelset: Bora 35s, not the latest WTO but from 2015 (diamond cut). They are barely used.

Cassette: Super Record 11 speed 12-25, I took out the 16t and put an 11t in from a 11 speed Chorus. (instead of 12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-25, I now have 11-12-13-14-15-17-18-19-21-23-25).

When the cassette is in place, the lock nut and cap on the freehub sit a few mm below the cassette lockring.

What am I doing wrong here?

2 spacers between the 14 and 17/18/19? There is an 'R' spacer inset into the 17/18/19..

I took out the 16t's black spacer along with itself, and the 11 has the spacer built-in. Thought it should be all good? I hope it's not something terribly dumb.

When yer done it should look like this..have a 11t/smaller lockring??

I'm wondering if you need a specific 12t..where the 11t sits down into it some.

12T and 11T use different lockring, no? I only use 11T cassettes, butI thought this is the case.

Yeah I'm beginning to think that might be the case.

Dropped it off at LBS, they are confused too and said would call Campagnolo. Will go and investigate now.

Thanks everyone! Will update once I have a breakthrough...

Didn't know this – I used the 12t lockring with the 11t.

I usually only use 11t cassettes too, but one day realized I had a 12-25 and 11-29, and if I did the swap I'd have a 11-25 and a 12-29, which are way more usable (one for flats one for climbs).

Chain will ride up on the 12t lockring if used on a 11t..BUT, gotta say..isn't the 16t more useable than the 11t??

Yeah, I live in Florida now. I should use a 11-15, and just have 2 of each

Yes, in a perfect world I'd want both 11t and 16t. But London is super flat, and I find myself using 11t on a daily basis and enjoying the speed. Campy's own 11-27 doesn't have a 16t so thought I'd give 15t a try.

This whole process made me realize how good 12 speeds would be.

I can confirm after putting the 12t, 16t and the original lockring back in the 12-25, everything works fine now. It wasn't just the lockring, I had to put everything back together. Campagnolo do not want you to swap cogs I guess, at least between SR and Chorus.
