See the NBA thread. Never been one to put athletes on pedestals. Don't know why I'm blinking back tears now. This really affected me.

Just crazy. Only 41 and four young children and a wife. So sad. RIP Kobe.

God I heard.

ABC is reporting one or maybe more of his daughters was on the helicopter. The nba has cancelled all games today.

So devastating for their family and so sad

I've been reaching out to friends. The last time I cried when an athlete died was Thurman Munson, and I was just a boy.

One of my buddies had a quip that brought a smile to my face:

"The last time I cried about an athlete is when the Warriors drafted Todd Fuller instead of Kobe."

Me too. I’m getting updates from my friend who knows how to Twitter so not sure if it’s normal to have unconfirmed news. I’ve never actually used Twitter.

Sources: Kobe Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his daughter Gianna when the helicopter crashed. Those aboard the helicopter also included another player and parent.

terribly sad

the speculation sucks. i wish news could just take a beat and wait until facts are known. He was an amazing athlete, and well loved beyond the sport. I wish strength to his family, friends and fans who have to live without him.
