Must see shops in NYC for clothing? Cycling, of course
A friend is headed up there in a few days & was asking about good shops to pick up kit. Any suggestions?

NYC Velo. The East Village location is the larger of their two NYC based shops and thus has more to peruse. The Hell's Kitchen shop pairs nicely with lunch/dinner at Gotham West.
NYC Velo is a strong supporter of the local cycling scene and well respected in the community. |

Meh.
There’s so much to see and do in NYC that buying kit at shops would be very low on my list of priorities. None of the shops are really remarkable IMO and you may be going significantly out of your way to visit one. IMO of course.

Get a kouign amann at Dominique Ansel, then if you really have to, get an espresso at the Rapha club a couple of streets over.

and then get lunch at Joe's Shanghai on Pell St. Crab and Pork steamed bun (xiaolongbao). Sit at a mix table and pay cash, of course.

Signature used to have a decent clothing selection when they were in Manhattan but they have been gone for a few years now.

I personally like Maglia Rosa which sells PNS. But I would agree no shop in NYC is worth going out of your way.
Now, if you were after a bike fit and at the same time seeing something like 5 different Moots bikes and custom carbon on the walls Acme would be a place to consider. |

PNS fit is a bit wonky from collection to collection, so it's actually nice to find a shop where you can try it on. We were luck to have the pop up store here in SF for a while.
