Campagnolo Rally

I'm trying to find out the approximate value of a Campagnolo Rally. From what I gather it is a first generation and is in very good shape - about 8.5/10. It has a little rash on the pivot bolt and the rest is excellent. I could post a photo if necessary but just looking for a range of values. The items on ebay on mostly NOS and in the $400 - $600 range and I don't think this is quite in that category. Thanks to all in advance.

Guessing $80-120, but a good image would be nice. Look at completed listings for one in similar condition. FWIW, These were considered red-headed step children 20 years ago. Euro-Asia blew out their stock at $25 per unit.

The Campagnolo Rally was used mostly on touring bikes and with triples. I could not give you a value but would not use online offers as an indication.

No offer here, JMO.. We're not talking about Victorian jewelry. The Rally RD has a "value" that is set by the marketplace. A full description, and multiple hi-res images, will bring a fair market price on the auction site.

I don't doubt the accuracy of your comments. I'd guess many of the $25 Rallys went to resellers like Bicycle Classics where they were marked up 4-5 x $25 as soon as they were received. I think even 20 years ago, some folks that were weaned on NR were looking for lower gears. They wanted to keep their 144 cranks and a bigger freewheel was the only option.

$100 for a decent used one sound reasonable to me, but I haven't really followed sales. My take is that they are worth more than a similar condition NR/SR at this point.

Thanks guys - I figured I'd get a good response here. I'll post some photos tomorrow. I was thinking in the $100 - $125 range. And I've got a local buyer but want to offer it at a fair price.

These had a market in the day. Didn't shift as well as many of the other large wrap RD out from Suntour, Simplex, Huret. Like the other Campy kit at the time it was pretty though...

They did wear out, get sloppy fairly quick too. With some rash I would say $75-$100 IF someone needs it for a period project. If you want an all Campy drivetrain you can always do the rally cage on a NR/SR changer for a wide range or triple application.

This on my '73 Gitane;

This one? If so, depends..NOS with box, probably in the $150 range..second gen about the same, third gen, the smooth one like first gen with laser-etching..maybe a wee bit more.

Second gen right pic, third gen ebay pic.

LOL - I'm one of those weaned on NR. In fact I picked this up at shop I worked at in about '76 and it's been in the parts box since. But it did clean up pretty nice. And I'm also and age 62 looking for some lower gears for my 53/39 Record 10 to climb some of the big mountains (Palomar) around here. Will start with a larger cassette (and probably a mid or long cage RD) and add a compact if necessary.

Sorry about the photos, getting a File Server error when I try to upload. Will try later.

Also, may have a buyer locally at about $125 which I think is in the fair price range.
