They appear to be a "Dealer" not sure why they would buy that brand.

Kind of a weird fit for a place that is called "the pro's closet" to start selling a brand that has no pro associations. Sort of a pivot away from "we can get you the good stuff for cheap" to "we can get you average stuff for retail."

wait....are you telling me that pros don't ride steel?
well then, get ready to feel the wrath of Paceline, DT shifters, rims brakes, steel forks, and 25 lb road bikes with 21 mm tires.

QBP must be giving them a pretty sweet deal; the margins to shops are not great on All City bikes. For example, a Cosmic Stallion Rival AXS which retails for $4,049 costs shops almost $3K to buy.

I don't doubt they are getting a better deal than shops, when they buy in larger numbers than the avg LBS that has limited room on the floor for such a niche product.

In addition to this advantage, I imagine offsetting this 26point-ish margin is a lot of refurbed bikes that get better than 40pts margin. I imagine some of these turnarounds only req a comprehensive tune, or a few minor parts replaced, like tires and tape. They then get better margin than any bike shop would get on a bike of that pricepoint, putting them in a highly advantageous position relative to LBS(s).

I think this is a way to diversify their product mix, as having just broken carbon bikes is more than tacky. And I don't even want to KNOW what the margins on those flips look like. It's probably just WRONG.

I always assumed they'd expand, sell new and eventually open stores.

What's in a name anyway?

That's 100% the move... QBP is letting someone else, with a ton of reach already, handle the direct to consumer sales portion of the transaction.

And "The Pro's Closet" can be spun any number of ways using the middle word ... pro-phets, pro-fits ... and of course pro-files of customers

I'm always checking the new arrivals on TPC but there's been only a trickle of new bikes/frames as of late.

As for All-City, I was always shocked what a used All-City was listed for on TPC.
But hey if someone wants to pay between $3k to 4k for a gussied up Surly have at it!
