NBC Sports Network to Shut Down by End of 2021

Wonder who will pick up the ASO races going forward?

I was wondering if something was up when they discontinued the NBC Sports Snow Pass, and moved their snow sports coverage to the Peacock streaming platform. I wonder if they will discontinue the Olympics channel as well? Maybe not, since NBC has owns the rights to broadcast the Olympics for years to come.

NBC Sports has owned the rights to broadcast the Tour de France for the past several years. Will that move to the USA network, or maybe only stream on Peacock? Or maybe they'll dump cycling altogether.

My guess is streamlining on Peacock.

classical cable tv subscription plans with add-ons seem to be a dying concept. we seem to be in some strange hybrid in-between land where some stuff is network based, some stuff is independent streaming service, some is some weird hybrid of the two.

where this will all shake out is not entirely clear to me, i strongly suspect the new norm will not be a cable wire plugged into a box under your TV, but plenty of people still do it that way.

there will be some teething pains, etc while we all try and figure out what's what.

unfortunately, i think cycling coverage is low on the priority stream.

Agreed, TV subscriptions are going to stream based packages. You’ll be able to bundle various networks w/the local stations as a base. The days of Cable,Direct TV, etc are numbered.

1 less channel in my lineup but I doubt that my bill will decrease.

Well, I have some sort of NBC Sports cycling pass. I wonder what will happen to it.

The trades are saying most of the stuff will move to USA cable which makes sense from a distribution standpoint.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I want to watch television on my tv, and do computing stuff on my computer. I really don't want to have to stream stuff to my tv...it just doesn't work as well, it's more cumbersome, it's yet another subscription bill, yadda yadda.

Guess I'll be stuck with reruns of the Honeymooners and Jerry Seinfeld.

It's all Peacock. They're pushing pretty much all the EPL coverage there.

I have Peacock so that we can watch ski and snowboard racing and while it works it's not ideal. There is no commentary so you need to pay very close attention to know what is happening. It works well enough for ski racing but I can't imagine trying to follow a TdF mountain stage and have any clue what is happening out there on the road without some commentary telling you what's up.
