somewhere between 50 and 62 nautical miles...that's a reasonably well defined band!

Wait what -- wiki says this isn't even low earth orbit. Is there any other use for this other than a joy ride? If not, is this a stepping stone for using this technology for something more useful?

But this technology is from the 50s. Remember the X-plane project? The X-15 in particular.

The current state of the Branson and Bezos efforts are pretty underwhelming. At 50 miles or 62 miles, both are essentially conducting ballistic trajectories. Branson is roughly recreating the X-15 (sub-orbital plane released from the underside of a B-52) and Bezos is recreating the sub-orbital Freedom 7 Mercury launch.

Today just proves Elon Musk and SpaceX are orders of magnitude farther ahead. SpaceX is the real deal with 20+ resupply flights to the ISS, manned flights to LEO, and manned flights to the ISS. That's even before you get to SpaceX supplying the DoD with launch vehicles for some of the most important National Security mission.

Bezos and Branson are just taking the baby steps that NACA/NASA took in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

If you have the money, can’t you spend it as you want? I don’t get this whole idea of telling people how they should be spending money they earned! It sounds like pure jealousy to me!
It’s a sad life you live if you think you can define another’s life!!!!!
